Founded in 2023, the Maritime Law Association (UAE) NPIO ("EMLA") is the first maritime legal association in the United Arab Emirates, furthering the understanding and advancement of maritime law among lawyers, scholars, and maritime industries.
EMLA is as an independent and neutral network of maritime law professionals (not necessarily only lawyers) to support the government with critical issues of maritime law.
Classes of Members
Individual Membership
Open to professionals practicing or working in maritime law and related fields who wish to be part of the Association’s professional community.
Law Students
Available to students pursuing legal studies with an interest in maritime and mercantile law.
Corporate Membership
Intended for companies, firms, and commercial entities active in the maritime sector seeking institutional association with the Maritime Law Association (UAE).
Institutional Membership
Designed for institutions, organizations, and bodies with a role in the maritime ecosystem, including education, regulation, or industry representation.
Judicial & Govern. Membership
Reserved for members of the judiciary and government authorities involved in maritime regulation, policy, or adjudication.
Honorary Members
Conferred upon individuals recognised for their exceptional contribution to maritime law or the maritime sector.
